No. Sidewalk repair is the city's responsibility. The sidewalk is part of the city infrastructure just like a road or a bridge. Besides, would you want every piece of sidewalk in front of every house looking different because that's what the owner felt like doing? There has to be a uniformity for both aesthetics and safety. Would like the DPW to weigh in on this....
We received your sidewalk issue and will initiate a sidewalk inspection to assess your sidewalk's condition and the various factors which are impacting it. After the inspection, we will weigh in on what the next step is. Thanks for reporting.
This is interesting, since we participated in a program about a decade ago in which the city SHARED THE COST WITH US of replacing our sidewalks. It was a fair amount of money, but it was supposed to be a good deal, since otherwise we (were told we) would have had to foot the bill ourselves. And we are on a corner lot and have a lot of sidewalk.
Sidewalk repaired Fall 2017. Issue closed. If you need to report another issue please submit to See Click Fix or call Department of Public Works at (203) 946 - 7700. Thanks.
